Escapenix was founded in Bangkok by Thanakorn Saetang, a watchmaker who spent eleven years working with independent repair ateliers across Switzerland and Japan before returning to Thailand. The name references the escapement — the part of a mechanical movement that regulates the release of energy, tick by tick. It felt like an honest description of what the workshop does: manage energy carefully, release it at the right moment.
The workshop opened on Sukhumvit Road in 2018, in a space modest enough to stay focused. No grand showroom, no retail upsell — just a bench, good light, and the tools needed to work on a range of mechanical and quartz timepieces properly. The early clients were mostly referrals: colleagues, expatriates, collectors who had run out of patience with chains and department store counters.
Over the years the work has stayed the same. Each watch is assessed before any repair begins. A written note goes with each piece when it leaves — what was inspected, what was replaced, what was adjusted. Chronograph work carries a 12-month warranty. Battery services include a fresh gasket as a matter of course, not as an optional add-on.
Bangkok has no shortage of repair counters. Escapenix isn't trying to compete on speed or price in the lower tiers. The aim is to be the place people bring a watch they actually care about — and to return it in a state that earns that trust.

How We Approach Every Piece
The standards we follow aren't displayed on certificates. They show in the work that leaves the bench.
Pre-Service Assessment
Every watch is assessed before work begins. We identify what needs attention and communicate that clearly before any charge is incurred.
Correct Parts, No Substitutes
We use parts appropriate to the movement. Where OEM parts are available and required, we use them. We don't fit generic components into watches that deserve better.
Water Resistance Checks
Battery services include a fresh gasket and a basic water-resistance check as standard. Cases are never returned with compromised seals.
Written Service Records
Each piece leaves with a written note detailing what was inspected, what was replaced, and what was adjusted. You have a record. We keep one too.
12-Month Service Warranty
Chronograph service work is covered for 12 months against issues arising from the service itself. No debate. If something isn't right, we look at it again.
Secure Handling
Watches left for service are logged on intake and stored securely in the workshop. We handle client pieces with the same care we'd give our own.
Watch Repair in Bangkok — What That Actually Means
Bangkok has a wide range of options for watch servicing — department store counters, mall kiosks, and a handful of independent workshops. What distinguishes a workshop like Escapenix is not a faster turnaround or a lower price point. It's the willingness to take time with a movement, to open a case properly, and to be honest about what's inside.
Chronograph movements are among the more demanding pieces to service. The interaction between the column wheel, the levers, and the brake spring requires careful attention to the feel of the function, not just its appearance. A reset that looks correct on a bench test can feel wrong in the hand of someone who's used the watch for years. We test chronograph functions through several cycles and note the results before a piece goes back to its owner.
Self-winding systems fail gradually — the rotor still spins, the watch still runs, but the power reserve drops from 42 hours to 18. Many owners attribute this to age and live with it. In most cases a rotor service or reversing-wheel replacement restores normal function. It's not a complicated job when handled correctly, but it requires opening the movement and assessing the winding efficiency properly rather than guessing from the outside.
Battery services are the most common appointment at Escapenix. Done well, a battery change extends to a case inspection, a fresh gasket, and a basic water-resistance check. Done poorly, it's a battery swap with the old gasket left in place. We do the former, and we charge accordingly. The difference in cost is modest. The difference in outcome — particularly for watches worn near water — is significant.
Escapenix serves a range of clients in Bangkok: long-term residents with a single cherished piece, collectors with rotating winders, tourists passing through who notice a problem mid-trip. Whatever the context, the standard of work stays the same.
